The overriding goal of the TMSTEC is to improve the quality of mathematics and science educations at all levels in Tennessee. All students must be well prepared in mathematics, science and technology to enter the workforce or college. To meet the ever growing shortage of qualified mathematics and science teachers and the need for highly qualified individuals in business, industry and government, institutions of higher education must graduate more students with degrees in mathematics, science and technically related fields.

TMSTEC will work collaboratively with NASA Headquarters and Marshall Space Flight Center to form partnerships with higher education, State Department of Education, business and industry and K-12 schools to address identified areas of concern in mathematics, science and technology education.

TMSTEC is housed in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN. TMSTEC will serve the state of Tennessee.
