The National Alliance of State Science and Mathematics Coalitions (NASSMC), in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), sponsor’s the state-based Linking Leaders program. The program’s primary goals are: To provide resources and opportunities for state-level leadership groups to collaborate with NASA and its affiliates for the purpose of aligning NASA’s resources with the state’s mathematics, science, and technology education (MSTE) reform agenda; and to build the commitment to establish and strengthen a broad-based coalition of business, education and public policy to address the state’s MSTE needs. In each participating state, NASSMC supports a three-year process designed to align NASA’s programs and resources with the systemic efforts of the coalition to improve mathematics, science, and technology education for all students.

The State of Tennessee is participating in the Linking Leader Program (2002-2005). The NASA and NASSMC funded program is coordinated through the Tennessee Mathematics, Science, and Technology Center.
