MTSU 2007 Gospel Extravaganza Press Release

*MTSU Gospel Extravaganza Committee is happy to announce our Benefits Recipient for 2007. Our Community Recipient is Jamise Marable 13 years old. She lost her hands and feet earlier last year from complications due to pneumonia and kidney failure.*

*Jamise was born with a blood disease that has kept her ill for much of her life. In March of last year, Jamise was admitted to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital with pneumonia, and an infection led to kidney failure, which in turn led doctors to the decision to amputate her hands and feet. Low blood pressure after the surgery caused the doctors to fear she she would not survive the night. The extended hospital stay drained the family’s finances.*

*Jamise is now in the process of learning to use prosthetic legs and is being fitted for prosthetic hands. Friends and the community was gracious and generous to her last year. We the MTSU Gospel Extravaganza Committee would like to extend an additional support to her. Today, Jamise is in and out of hospital due to her delicate condition. *

*Jamise Marable is well known in our community during Black History Month. Every year, Jamise, her mother and sister performed at various churches with a Musical Skit in commemoration of our past and future as black people. At the end of their Skit, Jamise's mother would sing a solo such as, “PRECIOUS LORD TAKE MY HAND.” *

*Our Student Benefit Recipient is for A Study Abroad Scholarship. The Committee will submit their name at a later date. *

* MIDDLE** TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY* **

*7^th ANNUAL GOSPEL MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA*

*BENEFIT PROGRAM FOR*

* *

*JAMISE MARABLE*

*&*

*A STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP*

* *

*Saturday, February 3, 2007*

*6:00 p.m.*

* *

*MTSU TUCKER THEATRE*

* *

*Featuring*

*All Male Choirs, Groups, Solos, Spiritual Dancing,*

*Readings** and African Attire Modeling*

* *

*Admission Fee: $5.00 (Free: Children under 6 yrs. old)*

*Write checks payable to: MTSU Gospel Extravaganza*

* *

*For additional information contact:*

*Mary Glass at 898-5145*

*** Cope Administration Building #103 Mrfreesboro, Tenn. 37132*
