In the beginning
Hey out there readers. My name is Andy Nick (pictured above on the right). I am currently a senior at MTSU, and loving every minute. I’m finishing up my degree in criminal justice administration, and let me tell ya, it’s worth the wait. The senior year has started with a bang and I think it can only get better.
It’s weird being a senior. You have to start to think about the future and start planning your life. It seems like all my friends are getting engaged or married, and I’m just sitting here single wondering if I need to get married too. Maybe one day. It just brings the realization on how fast life goes by. I know I know you don’t want to hear that. I didn’t want to hear it either. My parents and other friends always said enjoy it while you can, ‘cause it flies by. Well, they weren’t kidding. I remember my freshman year like it was yesterday…. We were in a little house just off campus. It was so close that we would walk to class. I didn’t even go get my parking pass. It was great being that close. I could come home in between class and watch some TV for a while, then look down at my watch and I’d be like, “crap I got 5 minutes to class.” I would make it there with like 10 seconds to spare. Since it was so close to campus, all our friends would come over in between their classes too. It soon became the spot to be…. Well those were the days.
I’m in Air Force ROTC, so I’ve got a job when I graduate. I’ll be going into space and missiles. So all I have to do is pass my classes this year, and they are not even that hard. Yeah, here’s some advice, take your classes early so your last year will be fun. It’s nice.
Well now for some background on me. I come from a town in east Tennessee called Maryville. It’s not that much different from the ‘Boro. I think the biggest change was going from 2,000 students to over 23,000. It sounds like a lot but after the first few weeks it’s not that bad. Just look at it this way, there’s more people for you to meet. There are all sorts of people out there. I guess I figured out that I wanted to come to school here when I would visit my brother. He graduated from here, so I know there’s hope for me too. They had everything that I wanted, and it was away from home. Nothing against where I’m from, but it was nice to get away. I mean, I like where I’m from, but I think there is a time in everyone’s life where they need to branch out on there own, and well I think it was my time. Well it looks like its time for me to go. I have to go learn about coaching. If you ever got any questions feel free to email me at, tan2e@mtsu.edu. And remember, the juice is always worth the squeeze.
