Orientation for International Students



The Orientation Program offered by the International Programs and Services Office (IPSO) for all international students new to the Middle Tennessee State University is mandatory. Orientation is always one week before classes start for the spring and fall semesters. All F-1 visa holders must attend Orientation prior to registration for courses.

If English is not your first language, you may be required to participate in an English writing exam so that you can be placed in the appropriate courses. Scores will be available the day after testing. If you have to take the Developmental Studies Compass test, you do not need to take the ESL screening test. After you register, you may pay your bill and obtain a student ID card, parking permit, e-mail account, etc. Your post office box will not be assigned to you for about two weeks after the semester begins. You may a campus directory with the telephone numbers of all departmental and school personal from the Telephone Services, located at the Telecommunications Building or from the Information Booth in the main lobby of Cope Administration.

Graduate Students:
If you are a Graduate student at Middle Tennessee State University you must have the following paperwork sent in.

Required to issue visa documents:
Confirmation Form - return to Graduate Admissions
Admissions Response Form - return to IPSO
Mandatory insurance and financial support forms - return to IPSO
Transfer Verification Form (only if already at a US school) - return to IPSO
Immunization Form - return to IPSO
Mandatory insurance and financial support forms - return to IPSO

Not required to issue visa documents:
Housing application (if you require housing on campus) - return to Housing Office

Undergraduate Students:
If you are an Undergraduate student at Middle Tennessee State University you must have the following paperwork sent in.

Pay the Admissions Confirmation Fee - return to IPSO
Admissions Response Form - return to IPSO
Mandatory insurance and financial support forms - return to IPSO
Transfer Verification Form (only if already at a US school) - return to IPSO
Immunization Form - return to IPSO

Transportation Information:
New students will need to fly into the Nashville International Airport (BNA). This is the closest airport to the university. If you need to be picked up from the Nashville International Airport (BNA), please contact the Student Christian Center at mtscs@yahoo.com or call them at 615-896-1529 and give them your flight details.
