Admission
Standards
If you have previously attended Middle Tennessee State
University, you can return to take additional classes at
the same degree level, undergraduate or graduate, by
submitting a
re-enrollment application.
The information in this document pertains to re-enrolling
undergraduate students. For information about
re-enrolling as a graduate student, please contact the
College of Graduate Studies, (615)
898-2840.
An undergraduate
re-enrollment application is necessary in any of the
following situations:
-
You have not been continuously
enrolled. If you do not enroll in a spring or
fall term, you must submit a
re-enrollment application in order to register for
a future term.
-
You graduated from MTSU. A
re-enrollment is necessary for you to take additional
classes at the same level (undergraduate or graduate).
If you graduated with a bachelor's degree and now wish
to take graduate-level classes, file a new Graduate
Admission Application with the College of Graduate
Studies, (615) 898-2840.
-
You were suspended from MTSU. If you
have not completed the term of your suspension, you
must first file an Appeal of Suspension form with the
Records Office, (615) 898-2600.

Application Instructions
-
Obtain an undergraduate Application for Re-Admission
form from the Admissions Office. Complete the
application and return it to Admissions. You may also
use the
online re-enrollment application form and submit
the results electronically.
-
If you have attended any other secondary institutions
since last enrolled at MTSU, request that each of those
institutions send an official transcript directly to
the MTSU Admissions Office.
No application fee is required.
We encourage you to apply as early as possible.
Re-enrolling students are eligible to participate in the
priority registration periods during April for Summer and
Fall class selection and in November for Spring classes.
The earlier you apply, the earlier you will register, and
the more class sections you will have to choose from.
Registration materials, including a schedule book, are
mailed to all re-enrolling students after they are
admitted.

Eligibility for
Re-Admission
Whether your application for re-admission will be
approved depends on whether you have attended another
college or university since last attending MTSU, as well
as on your cumulative college GPA.
If you have not attended any other college or university
since you last attended MTSU, your application will be
approved if any one of the following statements is
true:
-
You were not on suspension when you left
MTSU.
-
You were suspended at the end of your last MTSU term,
but the term of that suspension has been
served.
-
You were suspended at the end of your last MTSU term,
but you have successfully appealed the suspension
through the Records Office.
If you have attended another college or university since
last attending MTSU, your application will be approved if
any one of the following statements is true:
-
Your cumulative college GPA on all college work
attempted is at least a 2.00.
-
You were suspended at the end of your last MTSU term,
but since then have completed a minimum of 12 hours at
another college/university with at least a 2.00 GPA on
those hours. If your cumulative GPA on all work remains
below a 2.00, you will be re-admitted on
probation.
-
Your cumulative college GPA on all college work is
less than a 2.00, but you have not enrolled in any
college/university for the twelve preceding months.
If this is the case, you are eligible for
re-admission on probation.

Denials
Re-enrolling applicants with transfer work who are denied
admission because the cumulative GPA, including MTSU
courses and transfer courses, is lower than a 2.00 will
be sent a "Personal
Statement" form which can be used to request
consideration by the Admissions Review Board for
admission to MTSU on a probationary basis. The decision
of the Admissions Review Board in such cases is
final.
