Each fall approximately 1,000 students start their MTSU careers as undeclared majors. It's the single largest major for freshmen at MTSU, and it's a great place to start. There are 41 hours/credits in the general education core that all students must take to graduate. Undeclared students take general education classes while working with an assigned advisor in the University College Advising Center to find and officially declare a major. All first semester students who are undeclared take University 1010, a seminar on how to succeed at MTSU with a strong career development component. As part of that course you will take a FOCUS inventory to learn more about yourself and what careers are best suited for you.
