Welcome Current and Prospective Students and Scholars!
On behalf of the MTSU Department of Art and Design, I invite you to explore our website and learn more about all the exciting and dynamic opportunities we offer. Through the collaborative efforts of our Faculty and Staff, we enable our strong community of designers, artists, and art enthusiasts to develop sophisticated concepts, acquire new skills and techniques, and create a foundation for lifelong innovative learning and creative problem solving.
Our students have access to generous scholarships and ongoing support from the community and local donors. The Department of Art and Design offers a variety of student work opportunities that directly relate to our field, giving students hands on experience that will help prepare them for the job market. Our students develop partnerships within the surrounding businesses and art communities through internships and our department’s active outreach agenda. Students benefit from multiple venues in which they can showcase their work, including dedicated student galleries and online portfolios. Additionally, we host professional artists in our outstanding Todd Art Gallery. Our unique affiliation with the MTSU Music and MTSU Theater and Dance Departments to form MTSU Arts enables students to enjoy interdisciplinary learning opportunities through projects such as set building and design.
We offer several degree plans catering to different styles of learners. Our faculty have acclaimed research agendas over a diverse range of disciplines. Students enjoy focused interactions with these experts due to small class sizes and a vast degree of commitment to student success. As we continue to expand our evolving innovative curriculum, we urge students to investigate new techniques and concepts with the confidence that their education is being directed by innovators in their fields.
