GRADUATE PROGRAM ROLE: Graduate Students focus on a variety of plant conservation issues of the cedar (limestone) glade ecosystem. This ecosystem is best developed in middle Tennessee, a hotspot of plant endemism and rarity, and is critically imperiled. Graduate projects include(d) investigating the invasiveness of the exotic shrub Ligustrum sinense, determinants of species diversity in cedar glades using GIS, and microhabitat of the federally endangered Dalea foliosa. External and in-house grants support graduate research.
