B.A. (Biochemistry, Mathematics minor), Columbia University
Ph.D. (Microbiology, Biochemistry minor), Auburn University

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Testing for mutagenic agents; Isolation/identification of antibiotic producing organisms from the environment; Isolation/identification of waste degraders from the environment; Isolation/identification of biochemical producing organisms from the environment; Creating mutant strains of microorganisms.

PUBLICATION RECORD:
Co-author on one book chapter, nine articles, 38 abstracts, published in Cancer Research, Academic Press, Biochemical Pharmacology, Molecular Pharmacology, Journal of the Tennessee Academy of Science.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
Carolyn Taylor Carr Award for Meritorious Achievement in Research, 1985; 2 Tips Trainer Awards, 2001

GRADUATE PROGRAM ROLE:
Teaches numerous graduate courses including Environmental Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Histology, Special Problems in Biology, Seminar-Advancements in Biology, General Virology, Molecular Genetics, Food and Industrial Microbiology, Biotechnology, Special Problems in Zoology, Advanced Virology, Advancements in Molecular Genetics, and Special Problems in Biology; Serves as thesis advisor and committee member to M.S. degree candidates.
