Michael E. Gower has served as MTSU's Associate Vice President for Business and Finance since July 1999. Prior to his arrival at MTSU, Gower was the Associate Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance for the Tennessee Board of Regents. He has thirty seven years of experience in the public sector. Thirty one of those years have been in higher education finance and administration at the University of Tennessee and the Tennessee Board of Regents system offices and at UT campuses in Knoxville and Martin prior to MTSU.

Gower, a Springfield Tennessee native, is a 2 time graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Accounting) and a Master's degree in Education (Higher Education Administration).
