Interested Business Majors
Students desiring to major in business will enter the program as Pre-Business majors and will apply for admission to the Jones College of Business after fulfilling the following requirements.
Requirements for Admission to the Jones College of Business (Effective Fall 2007)
Note: Students enrolled in courses at MTSU for the first time from Fall 2007 to Summer 2012 must have a minimum of a 2.00 GPA in the pre-business courses.
Jones College majors who have attained junior status (60 or more semester hours completed) may register for the following courses prior to full admission: BCEN 3510, BLAW 3400, ECON 3210, FIN 3010, INFS 3100, MGMT 3610, MGMT 3620, MKT 3820 and QM 3620. Registration in these courses does not guarantee admission into the Jones College. Jones College majors may not register for other upper-division business courses until they have been fully admitted into Jones College.
Students must be admitted at least one semester prior to their anticipated graduation date.
Business minors and non-business majors who need to take upper-division business courses must attain junior standing, achieve a cumulative 2.00 GPA, meet course-specific prerequisites and obtain permission from the Dean's office. To obtain this permission, fill out the Application to take courses in the College of Business Form and return it to the Jones College of Business Undergraduate Advising Center, BAS N219.
These admission standards have been established by the Jones College faculty and administration and are subject to change.
