resources?

How to configure your office computer to access network resources?

These instructions apply to all College of Business faculty computers.

All computers in the new Business Aerospace (BAS) building will be configured to access the campus network.
After your computer is setup you will be able to share and access files and other network resources.
To verify if your computer is properly configured to access network resources:

  • Right click on Network Neighborhood.
  • Click on Properties
  • You should see the following dialog screen:

Your Configuration tab should show that at least the following network components are installed:

Positive Client for Microsoft Networks

Positive A network card, i.e. 3Com Etherlink or 3Com Fast Etherlink XL

Positive TCP/IP

Positive File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks

Each one of the above components needs to be individually configured with additional information.

  • Your Identification tab should show information similar to the one shown below:

Computer name: Any unique name that identifies this computer. Generally related to your name or office location.

Workgroup: must be one of the following: ACTG, BMOM, CIS, ECFN, MGMK, BERC, FGNICHOLS.

Description: Generally contains the MTSU inventory number and the PC serial number, i.e. 67898 - 95RT5
