Spring 2001

New Computers

The Business Computer Lab has installed fifty new Dell Optiplex GX110 computers. Each of these computers is equipped with a Pentium III processor running at 733Mhz, 128 MB RAM, 10G B hard disk and Windows 2000 Professional. The computers are available to all MTSU students in the Businesslab (BAS S137) and are configured to run a variety of applications such as MS Office 2000, Minitab for Windows V12, Glencoe Keyboarding (CDP) and, Internet Access.

 

Free Printing

By disposition of the Office of the VP of Academic Affairs, all student printing will be free at MTSU labs and library starting the 1 st of March of 2001.The Businesslab is already offering free printing since February 14.


 

Memory Upgrades

We have upgraded all Windows 95 computers to 64 MB RAM in the Businesslab and Master Classroom (teacher) computers. This upgrade will provide additional computing capacity.

 

New Remote Application Service available.

The Businesslab has implemented the new College of Business Remote Application Service (COBRA). This new service allows any Internet connected computer to run applications in our serves from your home computer. Just like in the Business Computer Lab, applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access) as well as Minitab and Personal Cobol will be available for students personal use outside of the computer labs.
