What is Lightning JobSource?

Lightning JobSource is the online student and employer database used by the Career Development Center for posting all types of positions. Read more below about the benefits of using Lightning JobSource .

Access Lightning JobSource by logging in with your Pipeline username and password. 

Students can:

• Upload a resume for applying to positions.

• Search full-time, part-time and internship opportunities.

• Apply for jobs.

• Research employers.

• See a calendar of recruiting events.

• See dates of upcoming workshops.

How do I open a student account? ( Back to Top )

1. Your account should already be available if you are registered for classes.  For new students, your account should be accessible the day after registering for classes. 
2. Visit https://mtsu-csm.symplicity.com/students/ to log in.
3. If you have trouble accessing your account, please contact us during business hours at 615-898-2500 or career@mtsu.edu for assistance.
4. Alumni who did not recently graduate will need to contact the Career Development Center.

What do I do with my account once it is active? ( Back to Top )

Here is an outline of the things you should do to make your profile the most effective.

1. Visit the Career Development Center website at www.mtsu.edu/career, and click Log in to Lightning JobSource. 
2. Complete the Profile section, making sure to fill out each section thoroughly. Hold Control and click to highlight more than one selection in a field.
3. We recommend using our Document Drop service before uploading your resume into Lightning JobSource. Upload only a Word document or PDF.

How do I maintain my account? ( Back to Top)

1. Simply log in--If you are job searching, you should be checking the job postings at least weekly.  Jobs are added daily and jobs expire daily. 
2. Some positions will require you to apply through Lightning JobSource using the resume you have uploaded. Do not keep partial or out dated resumes in your account. Some positions will instruct you how to apply outside of Lightning JobSource. Please follow the employers instructions!
3. Review and update your profile periodically.
4. Please let us know when you accept employment--We want to hear about your success! You can fill out the 1st Destination Survey online to let us know you have accepted a position.

How long will my account be active? ( Back to Top )

Alumni accounts may be deactivated after 6 months of inactivity. The Career Development Center will notify alumni in advance if their account is going to become inactive.  If you need assistance reactivating an account, please contact the office.

How do I search and apply for jobs? ( Back to Top )

Once you have logged in to Lightning JobSource, Click "job postings" in the top toolbar. Next click "MTSU Job Postings" to see positions posted with the Career Center, or click "NACElink Extended Job Search" to use the built-in job aggregator (not controlled by MTSU Career Center). You can conduct a basic search by keyword, position type, job function, industry, etc., or you can perform an "Advanced Search" for more search criteria.

Where do I see which employers are going to be on campus? ( Back to Top )

Once you have logged in to Lightning JobSource, click on the Calendar on your home page. On the calendar are Interview Schedules, Career Fairs, Employer Information Sessions, and Information Tables, as well as Off-Campus Events. There is also a "calendar" tab in the top toolbar, which allows you to look at a day, week, month, and year view.
