Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree Program

Goal 1: Students will think creatively, critically, ethically, and logically to solve problems and make decisions.

  • Objective 1.1: Students will define a situation.
  • Objective 1.2: Students will analyze a situation.
  • Objective 1.3: Students will improve a situation.

Goal 2: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the major business disciplines and the relationships among the disciplines.

  • Objective 2.1:  Students will identify and apply principles and roles of each business discipline.
  • Objective 2.2:  Students will solve business issues by integrating principles and roles of the business disciplines. 

Goal 3: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the major external factors and how those factors relate to business and business decision making.

  • Objective 3.1:  Students will identify major external factors affecting business and how business impacts external factors.
  • Objective 3.2:  Students will assess impacts of external factors on business decision making.

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Economics Degree Program

  • Students will apply fundamental Economic Principles to solve new problems.
  • Students will apply Economic Principles to international economic issues.
  • Students will use Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory and Intermediate Microeconomic Theory to analyze new problems and evaluate alternative outcomes.

Master of Accountancy (MAcc)

Goal:  Students will obtain an advanced understanding of the body of knowledge in accounting.

  • Graduates desiring to obtain professional certifications will be successful.

Goal:  Students will develop communication skills necessary for success in the accounting profession.

  • Students will effectively formulate and transmit ideas orally on a current topic or a problem solution in accounting.
  • Students will write clear and concise reports on a current topic or problem solution in accounting.

Goal:  Students will develop decision making skills necessary for success in accounting.

  • Students will gather and analyze relevant information to solve problems encountered in the accounting profession. Students will be able to adequately substantiate their decisions.
  • Students will recognize ethical issues and appropriately apply ethical principles when making accounting decisions.

Economics MA

  • Students will apply master's-level Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Theory to new problems to obtain meaningful results.
  • Students will apply advanced knowledge in one field of specialization (Employment Relations, Financial Economics, or Econometrics) to new problems to obtain meaningful results.

Information Systems MS

Goal:  Students will develop the skills necessary to independently research, analyze, and evaluate information systems (IS) alternatives to support business activities.

  • Students will be able to research and report on a current information systems project management topic.
  • Students will be able to evaluate data resource technologies from a managerial perspective.
  • Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of information systems research publications, including the ability to distinguish between scientific and trade resources.

Goal: Our students will be able to use information systems to assist in the analysis and support of business decisions.

  • Students will be able to model a business situation using a spreadsheet and use the model to analyze and suggest appropriate managerial action.

Finance MS

Goal:  Students will demonstrate the knowledge required to operate in the modern financial environment.

  • Students will master concepts and theories that underpin the practice of modern finance.
  • Students will apply the types of data resources used in the practice of modern finance.
  • Students will master the basic methods of analysis generally employed in the practice of modern finance.

Goal: Students will demonstrate proficiency in financial decision making

  • Students will identify information that is pertinent to a particular issue, drawing that information from relevant financial information sources.
  • Students will apply concepts, theory, and methods of analysis to financial problems.

Management MS

Managerial Skills

Goal: Students will demonstrate appropriate managerial skills in organizing and working with employees.

  • Planning Skills - Students will demonstrate expertise in developing and using project management tools for planning, implementing, and assessing projects related to their discipline of study.
  • Human Resource Management Skills - Students will demonstrate knowledge of core competencies in human resource management.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge and apply management skills required for the discipline.

Critical Analysis and Decision Making Skills

Goal:  Students will solve managerial problems by developing a sound analysis of relevant factors.

  • Strategic Decision Making Skills - Students will demonstrate the ability to analyze data and generate potential alternatives to organizational problems.
  • Ethical Decision Making Skills - Students will apply relevant ethical concepts to making organizational decisions.

Communication Skills

Goal:  Students will be effective communicators of their knowledge and expertise in their planned area of work (not-for-profit management, organizational leadership, and supply chain management).

  • Communication Skills - Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills for their chosen discipline of managerial work.

Economics PhD

  • Students will apply doctoral-level Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Theory to new problems to obtain meaningful results
  • Students will apply advanced knowledge in two fields of specialization (Labor Economics and Industrial Organization) to new problems to obtain meaningful results.
  • Students will conduct publishable-quality research suitable for peer-reviewed economic periodicals.
  • Students will develop a dissertation proposal that outlines a plan to make an original contribution to a field of knowledge in economics.
  • Students will complete and defend a dissertation that makes an original contribution to a field of knowledge in economics.
