Scientia
SCIENTIA is an electronic journal featuring the research of students enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The purpose of the journal is to disseminate important findings generated by student research, provide an opportunity for full student involvement in the final step of the scientific method, namely publication serve as a public relations tool by showcasing the accomplishments of students, and promote interdepartmental faculty and student collaboration.

Science Olympiad
The Science Olympiad is a national competition of young scientists. There are two tracts for the competition—a junior high and a high school competition. For the past several years MTSU has hosted one of the regional competitions for Science Olympiad. The regional winners are invited to compete at the next level. Student and Faculty Research Symposium
Around the first day of April each year, MTSU hosts week-long event called Scholars Week, in which faculty, students, departments and colleges highlight their research. A highlight of Scholars Week is a poster session for faculty and students' research.

Academic Awards Ceremony
The College of Basic and Applied Sciences holds the annual Academic Awards Ceremony hosted by the Dean in the spring semester each year. Students who will graduate summa cum laude with a grade-point-average (GPA) of a 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale are recognized at this ceremony. Additionally, each department/school within the college presents awards and scholarships from their disciplines.

State of the College Address
The State of the College Address and Reception is an annual event held the first week of classes in the fall semester. The Dean highlights the successes of the past year recognizing departments and faculty who have excelled in various professional activities. The college goals for the new year are discussed, and a reception is held welcoming all faculty and staff back to campus. Please see the power point slides from the previous
