We believe that science holds the hope of our country’s continued success and are working hard to improve K-21 education in the basic and applied sciences. Our college motto is “The Science of Success.” The College of Basic and Applied Sciences is here to serve the citizens of Tennessee and the communities, social and professional, of which we are a part. We invite you to consider what we can accomplish if we work together.
As we enter the 21st century the scientific and technological demands of our society will continue to increase and grow ever more complex. The careers of tomorrow are being created today through the innovations of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians and their applications to every field of study. From the exploration of the galaxies in outer space, to the investigation of the core of an atom, these discoveries, inventions and applications which intrigue and excite our imaginations are born out of the fields represented in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences. Studies in these fields lead to the creation of devices and new technologies which drive the nation's productivity and ultimately improve our quality of life.
As Dean of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences at MTSU I want to welcome you to one of the most vibrant and growing divisions within our university. Students can choose from a wide variety of majors and emphases in one of our 10 departments, within an environment that values excellent teaching and fosters initiatives in research and public service.
