Department of Computer Information Systems

Centrally located on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University is the department of Computer Information Systems. The department is responsible for providing instruction in quantitative methods and information systems.

Computer Information Systems was established in 1972 as a department within the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited Jennings A. Jones College of Business. Since that time, it has continued to grow and is recognized throughout Middle Tennessee and the southeastern region of the United States as a progressive and competent program.

In the department there are eighteen faculty members, nine graduate assistants, nine academic scholarship workers and seven work study students. Graduate Assistantship applicants must apply through the Computer Information Systems office. MTSU offers the Academic Scholarship and Work Study programs to those who are eligible.

Our student organization, AITP, offers our majors and minors the opportunity to learn more about careers, technology, and the It business environment.  It is also a great way to meet other like-minded students.  Events through the year include monthly meetings, resume workshops, a national conference, and our IT Connect Fair.

Go Beyond the Classroom

It is our mission to prepare students for lifelong learning.  Therefore, we offer several opportunities to learn outside of the classroom, including labs, tutors, software availability, and our new partnership with Lynda.com.
