Communication Disorders students focus on careers dealing with evaluation, treatment, and prevention of human communication disorders. Professionals in speech-language pathology and audiology provide clinical services in health care and education facilities and serve as consultants in business, industry, and government. Some majors become speech and hearing scientists who engage in research. Students often use the Communication Disorders courses to enhance their preparation for other related fields such as deaf education, psychology, guidance and counseling, vocational rehabilitation, public health, medical administration, special education, and linguistics.
