Welcome!
As the Coordinator for Communication Studies in the Speech and Theatre Major, I'd
like to welcome you to our webpage which we hope will help keep you "in the loop";
for news that affects you. While we always encourage personal interactions between
faculty and students, we also recognize that many of you have very busy schedules.
By posting information on this webpage, it allows you to check it at any time (even
3 a.m.!) to see what's new in Communication Studies. We hope you'll find this informative
and useful.
To graduate on time : It is important that you meet with your advisor at least once a semester to ensure that you are on track for graduation. Three semesters before you graduate, you need to meet with your advisor to fill out the Upper Division Form. This form
is evaluated by the university to make sure you meet all requirements for graduation.

Have suggestions/questions? Contact me (Dr. Seward) at: Linda.Seward@mtsu.edu
Faculty Offices: Our offices are on the 2nd floor of Jones Hall with two exceptions: Dr. Patrick Richey, our new Debate Coach, is in KUC 312 and Dr. Kaylene Gebert is in room 202 of the Honors building. To help you find us, I've added everyone's
office next to their name and email address on the Faculty and Staff page.
Study Abroad: We highly recommend that you consider taking a semester or year abroad to be more
fully prepared for the future. For questions about programs that MTSU offers, you
can go to the Study Abroad Office in Peck Hall 207, email them at: mtabroad@mtsu.edu or call them at: 898-5179. If you have general questions about study abroad (why
it's valuable, how it can fit into your program of study, etc), contact Dr. Linda
Seward, Jones Hall 251, Linda.Seward@mtsu.edu
Internships
We highly encourage you to sign up for an internship your senior year. This is a
great way to apply knowledge from the classroom in a real world setting as well as
to gain experience that you can talk about in job interviews once you graduate. For
information on internships, contact Dr. Kaylene Gebert by email (Kaylene.Gebert@mtsu.edu), phone: 615-898-5263, or by stopping in at her office in the Honor's building, room
202.
