Tommy E. Macon

Tenured as Associate Professor

Tommy Macon, associate professor of costume design, joined the Department of Speech and Theatre in 2006. He received a B.A. in theatre from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and an M.F.A. in costume design from the University of Tennessee. He spent the previous 10 years as an assistant professor at Idaho State University where he was awarded tenure and at UNC Wilmington and the University of Utah. Professor Macon maintains an active professional career as both a costume designer and technologist. His credits include design work for the Utah Festival Opera, Pioneer Theatre Company, and Birmingham Summerfest as well as costume construction work for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Pioneer Theatre, Moscow Ballet, and Utah Shakespearean Festival.

Beverly Norcross
Department of Speech and Theatre
Assistant Professor

Beverly Gore Norcross is an Assistant Professor in the Theatre Arts program. She received her B.A. from California State University, Long Beach in Technical Theatre with a minor in Dance. Her M.F.A. is from California State University, Fullerton in Costume Design with a minor in Lighting Design. Ms. Norcross is a member of the Theatrical and Motion Picture Costumers unions in Los Angeles. While freelancing in L.A. she was privileged to work with a wide variety of people including: Dick Clark, Angela Lansbury, Burt Reynolds, Carol Burnett, CBS, the companies of Cats, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Secret Garden, the L.A. Opera and the Academy Awards. She traveled with the Evita and Dreamgirls national tours throughout the United States and Canada. Ms. Norcross has won a Daytime Emmy certificate, an American College Theatre award and an Elly award for regional theatre costume design. Recently, Ms. Norcross revised the 10th edition of Richard Corson's Stage Makeup text and created a companion workbook. She will be included in the 2011 edition of Who's Who In America. Her teaching posts have included: California State University, Fullerton, Illinois Wesleyan University, Purdue University, American River College, San Joaquin Delta College, and Cosumnes River College.

Kathy McKay Franz, CPS
Department of Speech and Theatre
Costume Shop Coordinator

Kathy McKay Franz is the MTSU Costume Shop Coordinator. In addition to working on 2010-2011 theatre productions at MTSU, Kathy has designed and created costumes for community/youth organizations, parades, clogging/square dance organizations, and secondary school video competitions in California. She received her Bachelor of Science and MBA from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; a California Vocational Teaching Credential through California State University, Long Beach; and a Tennessee Teaching Certification through Middle Tennessee State University (474, 475, and 440).
