Job Market Placements by Year

The faculty and staff of the Department of Economics and Finance provide the resources and support needed to ensure the placement of its doctoral candidates as they near graduation.  All candidates present their job market paper in our weekly seminar sometime during the fall semester.  These sessions are normally attended by the faculty and other graduate students.  In addition, department faculty aid placement by sending letters of recommendation to potential employers, organizing a series of mock interviews, and offering extensive counsel on numerous job market issues.

Considering the program's specialized focus, the department has demonstrated an excellent record of placing its students in tenure-track positions at well-known liberal arts colleges and other public universities.  In recent years our Ph.D. graduates have accepted tenure-track positions as Assistant Professors at Auburn University, the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, Marshall University, Oklahoma City University, and Transylvania University.  Students who opt for non-academic employment have accepted research positions at the US Food and Drug Administration, Federal Express, and various Tennessee state government organizations.

Below is a complete list of the department's job market placement since the inception of the Ph.D. program.
