Department of English

MTSU English Program PagesUndergraduate | Graduate

The English Department, the largest department in the University, boasts a productive and professionally diverse faculty involved in a wide range of academic endeavors. Visitors can find information about faculty members through their individual profiles.

The Department's mission is to exercise and strengthen students' critical thinking skills and their writing skills, committed to preparing students to participate in the intellectual, cultural, and professional issues they will face once they graduate. Degrees in English increase opportunities for success in a constantly changing job market. We invite visitors to find out about the broad curriculum offered, as well as specifics about the Majors, Minors, and Graduate Program. Prospective and current students will find access to information geared specifically to them in For Students as well as details on awards and scholarships unique to our Department.

English Department offices are located on the third floor of Peck Hall: Main Office, PH 301 [green hall]; Lower Division Office, PH 324 and Upper Division Office, PH 323 [both blue hall]; Graduate Office, PH 316 [yellow hall]. We welcome the opportunity to share information about our department. Feel free to contact us with comments and questions about our programs of study and departmental activities.
