Dr. Gentry, who received her B.A., M.A., and D.A. (1992) degrees from MTSU, began teaching full-time in the Fall of 2003. Previously she worked as an administrator for Motlow State Community College and at the Tennessee Valley Authority and in the Development Office and Academic Affairs on campus.

Dr. Gentry teaches computer-assisted courses, and regularly teaches English courses online. She has made numerous presentations at the regional and national level concerning popular culture topics, most recently on The X-Files and Star Trek.

Her book The Art of Dying: Suicide in the Works of Kate Chopin and Sylvia Plath was published by Peter Lang in 2007.
