Dr. Helford's CV


Dr. Helford teaches courses in 20th-century American literature, film, and popular culture as well as Gender Studies and Holocaust Studies. She is director of the Jewish and Holocaust Studies minor and former director of Women’s and Gender Studies. Recent and forthcoming publications include articles on the films of George Cukor in the journals Feminist Media Studies and Jewish Film and New Media, an article and a book chapter on the television series Leverage, a co-edited special issue of the Journal of Science Fiction Film and Television on anime, and Engaging the Woman Fantastic in Contemporary Media Culture (a collection co-edited with MTSU graduate students Sarah Gray-Panesi and Mick Howard and recent MTSU PhD Shiloh Carroll). Past publications include the edited collections Fantasy Girls: Gender in the New Universe of Science Fiction and Fantasy Television and Enterprise Zones: Critical Positions on Star Trek.
