Teaching Online in the English Department

Faculty interested in teaching courses online in the English Department will find the required process detailed in the Department Policies (see links below).

While the Continuing Education Department of the University College coordinates online teaching for the university, the English Department oversees course content and pedagogy for online English courses through the Lower Division, Upper Division, Graduate Committee, and the Web-based Curriculum Committee, WebCom. Ours is the only department in the university that has such a committee, which is involved in assisting our colleagues in developing and teaching online/hybrid courses and in ensuring the quality and rigor of those courses.

Faculty interested in developing or teaching an online/hybrid course, should begin by indicating such to the Department Chair and appropriate Committee Chair (Lower Division, Upper Division, Graduate) to determine departmental needs; then, contact the WebCom chair through email or by completing the teaching online form . A mentor/evaluator will help you meet Department and University College requirements.
