Dr. Helford's New Book Published

Rowman and Littlefield has just published a new collection of critical essays edited by the English Department's Dr. Elyce Helford.

Fantasy Girls: Gender in the New Universe of Science Fiction and Fantasy Television includes essays by scholars on a wide variety of television series, from Xena: Warrior Princess, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Third Rock from the Sun to The X-Files, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Star Trek. The book includes Dr. Helford's own essay, "Feminism, Queer Studies, and the Sexual Politics of Xena: Warrior Princess." and "Scully Hits the Glass Ceiling: Postmodernism, Postfeminism, Posthumanism, and The X-Files" by the English Department's Dr. Linda Badley.

Fantasy Girls is Helford's second book. She had previously co-edited Enterprise Zones: Critical Positions on Star Trek (1996).
