Dr. Sharon Monteith to Lecture at MTSU

D r. Sharon Monteith will lecture at MTSU on February 28th at 3:30 in Peck Hall 227. Her talk will be entitled "White Women Writers on Race: Interracial Relationships in Contemporary Southern Fiction."

Monteith is the author of Advancing Sisterhood? Interracial Friendships in Contemporary Southern Fiction (Athens: University of Georgia Press, 2000) and co-editor of Gender in the Civil Rights Movement (New York: Garland, 1999). Her study of contemporary British writer, Pat Barker, is forthcoming in 2002, as is a co-edited collection South To A New Place (Baton Rouge: LSU, 2002). She is a professor of American Studies at the University of Nottingham and currently Rockefeller Humanities Fellow at the University of Memphis where she is writing a book on representations of the Civil Rights Movement.
