Eshleman is also known for his superb translations of poets such as Vallejo, Cesaire and Artaud. As editor of the highly regarded journal of avant-garde poetry SULFUR, Eshleman has played a significant role in shaping the modern poetic tradition. With Gary Snyder and Anne Waldman, Eshleman has led trips to the caves of the French Dordogne and written about Prehistoric Cave Art. Eshleman will read from his poetry at 4:00 p.m. on March 3 in the Hazlewood Dining Room of JUB. On March 4, 10:00 a.m., he will present a multi-media presentation on Antonin Artaud (likely also in Hazlewood). A reception, to which you are all invited, will be held at the home of Dr. Allen Hibbard following the poetry reading.
