Sonia Sanchez to Read at MTSU for African American History Month

African American History Month 2001 is proud to announce the visit to the MTSU campus of writer, professor, and activist Sonia Sanchez. She will be on campus the week of February 20th for an evening reading/lecture and a morning classroom visit/presentation (final details forthcoming).

Sanchez is the author of 16 books, including Homecoming, We a BaddDDD People, I've Been a Woman: New and Selected Poems, and Shake Loose My Skin. She was the 1995 winner of the American Book Award for Poetry for Homegirls and Handgrenades. Sanchez has been in the forefront of the Black studies movement and taught the first course in the country on Black Women at the University of Pittsburgh.
