Dr. Craig Werner to Speak at MTSU

Dr. Craig Werner, Professor of English and African American Studies at the University of Wisconsin will speak at MTSU on February 15. 2000 at 3:30 pm in the BAS State Farm Lecture Hall on "Gospel, Blues, Jazz, and The Soul of America."

Werner is the author of several books, including Playing the Changes: From Afro-Modernism to the Jazz Impulse (University of Illinois Press, 1997); A Change Is Gonna Come: Music, Race & the Soul of America (Plume, 1999), and Up Around the Bend: The Oral History of Creedence Clearwater Revival (Avon, 1999).

The event, part of African American History Month, is sponsored by the Virginia Peck Trust Committee and the English Department and is free and open to the public.
