Although she wrote she wanted to be a pediatrician in her ninth grade research paper, Cathi Cooper veered off course somewhere along the way and is currently on the path to pursuing her Ph.D. in English at MTSU. She holds an MA in English Literature from Belmont University and a BA in Creative Writing from Rhodes College. As a graduate assistant at MTSU, Cathi currently serves as a Peer Mentor/Graduate Student Administrator and teaches English 1020. She has also tutored in the Writing Center, been a Research Assistant for Dr. Robert Petersen, and taught English 1010. She'll teach English 2030 in Spring 2010.

As of Spring 2009 when she passed her preliminary examinations in American Literature, 1830-1910, and American Literature, 1910-present, Cathi is ABD. Her dissertation will be an exploration of the rewriting of 19th-century American stories and identity in contemporary American fiction.
