Electro Mechanical Engineering Technology Concentration

Objectives

The objectives of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology are preparing graduates:

  1. with technical skills necessary to enter careers in installation, operation, and maintenance of electromechanical systems,
  2. with technical skills for applied design and integration of electrical and mechanical components, and development/management of electromechanical systems, and
  3. to succeed in a socially and technically diverse, systems oriented, applications focused careers.

Outcomes

Graduates of Electromechanical Engineering Technology baccalaureate degree must demonstrate competency to:

  1. Use computer-aided drafting or design tools to prepare graphical representations of electromechanical systems.
  2. Use circuit analysis, analog and digital electronics, basic instrumentation, and computers to aid in the characterization, analysis, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
  3. Use statics, dynamics, strength of materials, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes to aid in the characterization, analysis, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
  4. Use computer programming languages for operating electromechanical systems.
  5. Use advanced topics in engineering mechanics, engineering materials, and fluid mechanics for applied design, operation, or troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
  6. Use basic knowledge of control systems and other electronic devices for the applied design, operation or troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
  7. Use differential and integral calculus, as a minimum, to characterize the static and dynamic performance of electromechanical systems.
  8. Function effectively in teams
  9. Communicate effectively using various communication modes
  10. Use appropriate management techniques in the investigation, analysis, and design of electromechanical systems
  11. Recognize the need for and be able to pursue professional development and lifelong learning,
  12. Realize professional, ethical, and social responsibilities, and commit to quality,; timeliness and continuous improvement,
  13. Understand the diversity and knowledge of contemporary professional, societal and global issues.
