Biography

Despite beginning as a preschool dropout, Elissa found her passion for academics and graduated from Louisiana State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  She earned her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2016, with a focus on robotic prosthetics research as part of the NSF GRFP.  After working in industrial robotics, she joined MTSU in 2018 as a full time lecturer for Mechatronics Engineering.  In December 2023,...

Despite beginning as a preschool dropout, Elissa found her passion for academics and graduated from Louisiana State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  She earned her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2016, with a focus on robotic prosthetics research as part of the NSF GRFP.  After working in industrial robotics, she joined MTSU in 2018 as a full time lecturer for Mechatronics Engineering.  In December 2023, she finished her Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University, in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on soft robotic orthotics for hand rehabilitation.
