Kim Honaker is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting in the Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A CPA with experience in both Big 4 public accounting and industry, Dr. Honaker worked previously as a corporate tax director for publicly traded companies where she focused on Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740/FAS 109), Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes (ASC 740-10/FIN 48), SOX 404 controls, and SEC reporting for multinational corporations. Her research interests are in corporate taxation with a focus on corporate tax avoidance, the purchase of auditor-provided tax services, and the impact of regulation on the supply and demand of tax professionals. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in taxation.
