Matt grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, before moving to Orlando prior to high school. In Florida, he was introduced to the recording studio while being the lead guitarist for an as-yet-to-be discovered Rob Thomas. That encounter, along with his love of music and physics, led Matt to study audio engineering in North Carolina, earning his Bachelor of Science in Music Technology from UNC at Asheville. Matt then moved to NYC and climbed the studio ladder while completing his Master’s of Music in Music Technology at New York University (he also served as an adjunct professor for the department).
Matt is an active voting member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmy Awards), Cinema Audio Society (CAS Awards) and The Recording Academy (Grammy Awards). Matt is also co-editor of the Cinema Audio Society’s journal, the “CAS Quarterly.” Matt continues to mix for TV and web-based shows.
