Biography

Peter S. Neff joined the Middle Tennessee State University Aerospace Department as a faculty member in August of 2017. Dr. Neff completed over 29 years of active, reserve, and Air National Guard service with the United States Air Force where he flew seven different types of military aircraft. Peter S. Neff joined the Middle Tennessee State University Aerospace Department as a faculty member in August of 2017. Dr. Neff completed over 29 years of active, reserve, and Air National Guard service with the United States Air Force where he flew seven different types of military aircraft. He also completed a 32 plus year major airline career where he served as captain on five different transport category aircraft in revenue service. After completion of his airline career in 2006, Dr. Neff accepted a position as an Aviation Safety Inspector and a manager with the Federal Aviation Administration until July of 2017.   Dr. Neff holds an Airline Transport Pilot multiengine certificate with nine pilot type ratings to include the Airbus A380. He is a Certified Flight Instructor with Multiengine and Instrument Airplane ratings.

Research/Scholarly Activity

Dr. Neff's research interests include the mitigation of human factors error in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) flight operations and public policy constructs in the UAS and air carrier arenas. 

Courses

Currently, Dr. Neff teaches Theory of Flight (AERO 1020) and Crew Resource Management (AERO 3230).
