Biography

Dr. Salter is a Professor in the Accounting Department. Prior to joining MTSU, Dr. Salter was a Professor of Accounting and Endowed Chair for Western Hemispheric Trade at the University of Texas El Paso. He has held appointments at the University of Cincinnati and Texas A&M University. Dr. Salter is a Professor in the Accounting Department. Prior to joining MTSU, Dr. Salter was a Professor of Accounting and Endowed Chair for Western Hemispheric Trade at the University of Texas El Paso. He has held appointments at the University of Cincinnati and Texas A&M University. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Salter was a partner at Ernst & Young Management Consultants and worked for Canada's Bank of Montreal in Asia. He was born in Canada and grew up in Trinidad in the West Indies where his mother's family has lived for over 200 years.

Dr. Salter has published 36 peer-reviewed articles, including publications in the Journal of International Business Studies, a Financial Times "top 45 journal", Behavioral Research in Accounting, the Journal of Information Systems, the Journal of International Accounting and Research and the International Journal of Accounting. Dr. Salter is an Associate Editor of both the Journal of International Accounting and Research and Advances in International Accounting.

Dr. Salter's primary teaching interests are Management Accounting and International Accounting. Dr. Salter has also taught and advised universities as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Chile and Uruguay. He has taught courses or partial courses in Germany, the U.K., Singapore, and Australia. Dr. Salter is a past President of the International Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association. He was an IMA campus advocate and is a member of the IMA's Committee on Academic Relations. He currently represents North America on the board of the Business Association of Latin American Studies.
