Students may attempt up to 150% pf a program's length. Most programs require 120 hours; therefore, the maximum number of attempted hours for most degree programs is 180 hours. (120 X 1.5 = 180). Once a student exceeds the 180 hours rule, they are no longer eligible for federal financial aid (Pell, SEOG, Perkins, Federal Loans, Plus Loans). The following conditions are exceptions to this rule:
- A change of major in the junior or senior year.
- Seeking a degree that requires more than the normal 120 hours to graduate.
Students will be sent reminder letters before they reach 120 hours. Students working on a second bachelor's degree will need to work with their academic advisor to complete an upper division form. After the form is completed, it should be sent to the Financial Aid Office to determine a student's eligibility. Master's and Doctoral students will have eligibility based on one and a quarter times the required hours for their degree program. For questions concerning your remaining eligibility, contact the Financial Aid Office. |
