Loan Periods

The PLUS Loan is certified based on the loan period requested. The maximum loan period can only cover two semesters at time. All PLUS Loans are sent in two disbursements. Below is a listing of the loan periods for which a PLUS loan can be certified and the approximate time period for the disbursements to be sent to MTSU. Refer to the current semester's Schedule Book for dates when the Business Office will release the loan funds.

Fall only:
1st disbursement sent at the beginning of the Fall semester

Fall/Spring :
1st disbursement sent at the beginning of the Fall semester
2nd disbursement sent at the beginning of the Spring semester

Spring only:
1st disbursement sent at the beginning of the Spring semester

Spring/Summer:
1st disbursement sent at the beginning of the Spring semester
2nd disbursement sent at the beginning of the Summer semester

Summer only:
1st disbursement sent at the beginning of the Summer semester

The Financial Aid Office recommends that you borrow for two semesters at a time if possible. Most parents apply for a Fall/Spring loan. If the student plans to attend in the Summer, then the parent applies for a Summer only loan.
