General reminders:
These items may not apply to everyone attending a Study Abroad Program
Students must pay or confirm their classes by the MTSU fee payment deadline or their classes will be dropped. Students may log into RaiderNet through PipelineMT to pay or confirm their classes. Refer to www.mtsu.edu/bursar regarding confirmation and fee payment instructions/deadlines.
Because financial aid funds are not sent directly to Host Institutions, some students are responsible for paying fees to Host Institutions. For information about where to pay fees, contact the Office of Education Abroad and Student Exchange (EA&SE) at (615) 898-5179 or at www.mtsu.edu/~mtabroad. The earliest MTSU funds can be released is the beginning of the semester in which the credit hours will apply.
Verify aid has been processed by viewing your RaiderNet account.
Must be enrolled in appropriate number of hours for aid awarded. Refer to "Types of Financial Aid" on www.mtsu.edu/financialaid.
If receiving Federal Direct Loans, must be enrolled and attending at least half-time (6 undergraduate credit hours/5 graduate credit hours). First-time borrowers at MTSU must complete online Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at https://studentloans.gov before receiving loans..
Typically, financial aid is disbursed the first week of classes if students have met all requirements.
Direct Deposit is recommended so that financial aid refunds may be directly deposited into students' bank accounts. Students who expect to receive a refund should set up their direct deposit via the eRefund system through RaiderNet. For details, contact the Business Office or visit www.mtsu.edu/bursar.
Typically, students transferring study abroad credit hours from a host university
are allowed financial aid for one semester after their study abroad program ends.
Their official study abroad transcripts must be sent to MTSU and the study abroad
credit hours must be posted to their MTSU transcripts to receive future financial
aid. EXCEPTION: Future Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship (TELS) funds will be delayed until
official study abroad credit hours have been posted to MTSU transcripts. However,
students may qualify for a TELS deferment.
NOTE:
While participating in a Study Abroad Program, students may be requested to complete requirements for their next term of enrollment. Beginning in May, Fall/Spring Email Award Notices will be electronically sent to students with completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) results on file in the Financial Aid Office. Electronic award notices will be sent to the student's MTSU email address. While studying abroad, students may need to access their RaiderNet accounts to accept their awards and complete any requirements. For confirmation and fee payment instructions/deadlines, refer to www.mtsu.edu/bursar.
