Initiatives
- Computer Forensics
Dr. Saleh Sbenaty (Engineering Technology) Computer and high tech crime represents one of the fastest growing areas within forensic science. Dr. Sbenaty will expand this area at MTSU.
- Counter Terrorism
Dr. Karen Petersen (Political Science) By partnering with the Israeli Security and Counter Terrorism Academy (ISCA), Dr. Petersen will bring quality training in this area to Homeland Security and law enforcement personnel from this region and throughout the U.S.
- Forensic Anthropology
Dr. Hugh Berryman (FIRE) is a board certified forensic anthropologist who will provide continuing education courses and stimulate student and faculty research in this very specialized area of forensic science.
- Forensic Science for Pre-College Students
Dr. Patricia Patterson (Chemistry) is a chemistry professor who uses forensic science to stimulate an interest in the sciences among middle school and high school students.
- Gangs
Dr. Jackie Eller (Interim Chair, Sociology/Anthropology) under the direction of Dr. Eller the Gang Initiative within FIRE could become a Gang Center that would function (1) as a research arm for education and training, (2) as a national repository of data, and (3) as a research arm for law enforcement and the judicial system.
