High school students from Rutherford and surrounding counties spent four days at Middle Tennessee State University under the instruction of Dr. Hugh Berryman (Forensic Institute for Research and Education), Dr. Amy Phelps (Chemistry), Dr. Saleh Sbenaty (Engineering Technology), Dr. Pat Patterson and Dr. Dwight Patterson (Chemistry), Officer Goff, Oakland High SRO and Dr. Carter Smith (Criminal Justice) learning about ballistics, blood spatter, white powder identification, finger printing, collecting evidence and gangs during MTSU: CSI Camp 2009.

The Middle Tennessee chapter of the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners donated $2,475 to fund eleven camper scholarships for the Forensics Institute for Research and Education's annual event.
