Forensic Institute for Research and Education

Community Participation and Outreach

The Forensic Institute for Research and Education (FIRE) provides the community many opportunities to explore interests in forensic science. Twice each year, we host world-renowned forensic scientists through our William M. Bass Legends in Forensic Science Lectureship, which is free and open to the public. FIRE also provides resources for K-12 educators and students interested in learning more about forensic science. Each year, we host the Forensic Science Symposium, a science fair for middle and high school students to present their own original scientific research in forensics. FIRE offers workshops for teachers who use forensic science to demonstrate STEM concepts in the classroom and provides visiting scientist lectures for K-12 students. To request more information on these or other programs, please click here.
