| Grad Student Alicja Kutyla has received a prestigious fellowship from the Smithsonian Institution. She's also been examining pork ribs that Dr. Hugh Berryman blasted with a pistol. Dr. Hugh Berryman, director of FIRE, and Alicja Kutyla, a biology master's degree student, presented a paper at the American Academy of Forensic Science Annual Meeting in Washington, DC in February 2008 winning them the Ellis R. Kerley Award and $1000. A research proposal by Dr. Hugh Berryman and student Alicja Kutyla, �Primer-Derived Gunshot Residue on Bone�Determination of its Presence and Maximum Gun-to-Target Distance,� has been selected for funding of $2,000 by the Forensic Sciences Foundation Lucas Research Grant Program for 2008-09. |
