Spanish - Advanced Placement
Students who have taken Spanish in high school or have otherwise
acquired proficiency in Spanish are placed at the appropriate level
on the basis of a placement test, which is given during Customs
Sessions for entering freshmen and at the beginning of the fall and
spring semesters. This test is computerized and can be taken on a
walk-in basis until the end of the registration/drop-add period. On
completing the course in which he or she is placed, the student
receives credit for all lower-numbered courses in the
1010-1020-2010-2020 sequence. For example, a students placed in
2020 would, on passing the course, receive credit for 1010, 1020,
and 2010. No grade is assigned for credit earned through advanced
placement.
