Recruitment FAQs

Do I have to attend all events during formal recruitment?
Yes, it is extremely important that you attend all of the recruitment events on your schedule once the first round begins on September 19th. This gives you the opportunity to keep your options open and connect with more women. Friday and Monday may include events that might conflict with your class schedule. Be sure that you address the time conflicts with your Recruitment Counselors.

What do I do if I go through Recruitment and end up deciding sorority life is not for me?
You are under no obligation to join a sorority just because you participate in Recruitment. You are encouraged to participate in Recruitment because it is an excellent opportunity for you to learn about sorority life and meet new friends.

How much does it cost to join?
Each organizations' dues vary in amount. The initial semester of joining can cost from $400 - $760, with most organizations not costing more than $1,000 for the entire year. One of the reasons that the initial semester is more than a typical semester is due to the one-time initiation fee. The second semester (and each semester thereafter) costs typically range from $320-$480.

Is there a minimum GPA requirement?
The cumulative GPA to participate in Panhellenic recruitment is a 2.5 high school for freshmen and a 2.5 college for non-first-time freshmen. These GPA’s will be verified prior to recruitment.

Can women who are not freshmen go through Formal Recruitment?
Yes! Sororities accept women of all academic class levels - as long as you are an undergraduate, full-time student on the MTSU campus; you are eligible to join a sorority. Sorority life has many wonderful opportunities to offer all college women.

Do I need a recommendation letter to participate in the recruitment process?
