Beginning in Fall 2007, the length of appointment for doctoral, full, and associate levels changed from three years to five years. Since there is a transition period, faculty members approved for membership prior to Fall 2007 will still need to renew their membership three years from their last appointment date. Once you are approved for renewal from Fall 2007 forward, your appointment will be valid for five years.

(a) Initial Associate membership comprises a five-year term that is not renewable. Faculty holding initial Associate membership are encouraged to apply for Full membership as soon as they are eligible. Faculty who have held Full membership but who no longer meet the criteria for re-appointment as a Full member are eligible for one three-year non-renewable appointment as an Associate member.
(b) In departments having doctoral programs the Graduate Program Director MUST be a member of the Doctoral Graduate Faculty.
(c) Associate Level members may serve as thesis director after having served on one thesis/dissertation committee to completion.
