FIELDS: ancient and medieval history; public history; material culture.
BIOGRAPHY: I am very pleased to draw on my background in ancient and medieval history to offer
courses through the Department of History, in part because I love working with students.
I also love working with the public; as Research Professor for the Center for Historic
Preservation, I have the opportunity to work with communities across the state on
their heritage resources. I also serve as Project Coordinator for Teaching with Primary Sources Across Tennessee, an educational outreach program of the Library of Congress, which provides professional
development to educators with the purpose of engaging students in critical thinking
through the use of primary sources.
